Obituary for Donald Elam Donald Elam, 76, of Grayson passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at his residence. He was born November 9, 1942 in Grayson, Kentucky; a son of the late Harvey and Lula Conley Elam. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Elam and Margie Evans; a granddaughter, McKenzei Elam.
Donald was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ and attended the Dixie Park Freewill Baptist Church. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy as an aircraft technician during the Vietnam conflict. After serving our country, he was a truck driver and co-owner of Elam’s Upholstery Shop in Grayson for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Roark Elam; five sons, Steve (Ruth) Sharp, Harvey Elam, Billy (Kristen) Elam, Alex (Whitney) Elam, and Joey (Iesha) Elam all of Grayson; two daughters, Angie Sharp of Grayson and Donella (R.D.) Porter of Olive Hill; two sisters, Deloris Thomas and Lavern Bush both of Grayson; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, December 17, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, R.D. Porter, minister. Burial will follow at the East Carter County Memory Gardens with military honors provided by the Kenova American Legion Post #93.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences at www. sparksfh.com.
