Donnie’s Obituary Donald G. “Donnie” James, Sr., 74 of Waycross died Friday afternoon (January 18, 2019) at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Waycross to the late John H. and Hazel Wilson James. Mr. James was a 1964 graduate of Ware County High School.

He started his career in the grocery store business at Big Star in Waycross, then worked as Manager at Cations in Homerville for many years and retired from Mickey’s Foodstore in Blackshear as Manager. Mr. James’ passion was hunting deer, specifically with dogs, and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Rev.

Fred James. Survivors include one son, Don James, Jr. and his wife Toy of Elizabethton, TN; three grandchildren, Brooke Herrin, Waycross, Kylie Knox and her husband Cody of Waycross, Jonathon James, Elizabethton, TN; one brother, William A. “Bill” James and his wife Patsy of Waycross; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A graveside memorial service will be held Monday afternoon at 3 pm at Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:30 until 2:45 at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed online at www. milesodumfuneralhome.com.
