Donnis Beneke, age 80 of Arlington and formerly of Glencoe passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 at Golden Hearts Senior Living Center in Arlington. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 2nd at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington.

A gathering of family and friends will be two hours prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in the Glencoe City Cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.

Donnis Jane Beneke was born on May 10, 1938 in Steamboat Rock, Iowa to Karl and Jennie Mae (Hennessey) Hamblin. She was baptized as an adult on her confirmation day, May 23, 1955 at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Glencoe.

Donnis married Marvin Klaustermeier in 1955 in Glencoe. To this union were born 10 children before the marriage dissolved. Donnis then married Hillard Schauer at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe and he passed away in 1988.

Donnis was a longtime employee of Telex in Glencoe and retired from her position in 1994. Donnis married Harvey Beneke on October 14, 2006 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. Harvey died on April 6, 2012.

Donnis enjoyed quilting, embroidery, dancing, playing cards, assembling jig saw puzzles and loved spending time with her family. She was a former member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie where she was always very active in church functions. She was also a member of the Glencoe Lions.

Donnis is preceded in death by her parents; Karl and Jennie, husbands; Hillard Schauer and Harvey Beneke, daughter; Barbara Klaustermeier and two infant sons who were born asleep, siblings; Raymond, Virgil and Gale Hamblin and Viola Wurzberger. Donnis is survived by her children; Kathleen Dirksen, Lynne Klaustermeier-Cahoon, Richard (Rena) Klaustermeier, Deb (Glen) Jorgensen, Bruce Klaustermeier, Connie (Kevin) Hoof, Wanda (Paul) Becker, grandchildren; Christine (Michael) Stoltenow, Andrew (Georgia) Ide, Nicholas Ide, Angela (Ray) Robbins, Corey (Sara) Klaustermeier, Kyle (Riana) Klaustermeier, Jeremy Jorgensen, Michael (Daniela) Klaustermeier, Marcus Klaustermeier, Ashley (Dillion) Jobe, 30 great grandchildren, step children, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, siblings; Ruth Mathews, Francis Hamblin, Darrell Hamblin, Harold (Violet) Hamblin, Carroll (Marlene) Hamblin, Josephine (Jerry) Kalis, Bill (Marilyn) Hamblin, Ron Hamblin and sister-in-law; Yvonne Hamblin. Blessed be her memory.
