Obituary of Donzie Edwin Epling Donzie Edwin Epling, 78, Gas City, passed away in his home at 4:55 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019. The son of Arnold E. and Dorothy M. (Gadd) Epling, Donzie was born in Hinton, West Virginia, on October 9, 1940. Donzie graduated from Talcott High School (Talcott, WV) and then enlisted in the U.S. Army.

He proudly served his country from October 1, 1958, to June 2, 1961. Following his military service, he worked at and retired from General Motors, where he was a high lift driver. Golf was Donzie’s passion, and he played every opportunity he could before his health would not allow him to do so any longer.

He also had a great passion for politics and enjoyed talking politics with anyone. He will be missed by his son, Donovan (Sue) Epling, Evansville; grandchildren: Daniel (Erica) Epling, Ann Arbor, MI; John Epling, Lafayette; great-grandson, Eli Epling; and longtime significant other, Evelyn Rowe and her family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jason Epling.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Immediately following the time of visitation, Donzie’s funeral service will begin at 12 noon with Pastor David Parker officiating. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
