Doreen Elizabeth Holliday passed away on October 10, 2018. Doreen was born in Timmins, Ontario on June 30th, 1934 to Jimmy and Grace Ormston joining her older brother, Barry, followed by Sharon and Edward Francis (Ted). In 1946 the family moved to Kirkland Lake, Ontario where Doreen attended High School.

After graduation, she left Kirkland Lake to St Josephs Hospital in Toronto to train to become a nurse and then nursed for a short time in Windsor,Ontario with her good friend, Dewey, later to become Sister Andrea. The big city called, and Doreen went to Santa Monica, California. There she met her husband to be, Art Holliday.

They settled in Bellevue, WA. where Doreen worked for Dr Joslin and then the Group Health Clinic in Renton. Doreen was a devoted aunt and spent fun times with her nieces Leanne and Megan nephews Barry, Darcy and James and great nieces Sydney, Holly and Brooke and great nephews Mason, Cameron, Cody and James She was always there to help when family called.

In 1973, Art died. Doreen retired and moved to Gig Harbor, WA. where she was active with her church, gardening, friends, and the Stephen Ministry.

When Doreen was diagnosed with dementia, she moved to Regency, Newcastle and then to Highland Home by the Park in Renton where she was lovingly cared for 5 years. Doreen had many interests: family, friends, traveling with friends to Hawaii and exotic places, boating, gardening, cooking and music completed her life. Doreen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Art, and by brothers Barry and Ted.

She is survived by her sister Sharon (Mel Melin); nieces Leanne Arsenian and Megan Gardner (Dave); nephews Barry Melin (Heidi), Darcy (Karen) and James Ormston, and sisters-in-law, Ann Ormston and Dana Ormston. Many thanks to the staff at Highland Home by the Park, Group Health doctors, nurses and doctors at Overlake Hospital and friends who helped, prayed and cared for Doreen. A special thanks to Donnelle Brotherton for all those Friday visits.

Funeral Mass 11 am Thursday, October 25, 2018, at St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue. Urn interment will follow in Issaquah.
