Doris’ Obituary Doris Dean Shepherd, nee Eyth, passed away at her residence in Columbia, Missouri, January 23, 2019, at the age of ninety-seven. She was born November 29, 1921, in Topeka, Kansas, to Louis and Orell (Fulton) Eyth, both from Council Grove, Kansas. Doris married Eugene Ralph Shepherd, of Kansas City, Missouri, in September 1945, shortly after he returned from Navy service in World War II.

The formal wedding took place in Topeka, Kansas, at the Westside Baptist Church with many family and friends in attendance. From that union came three daughters, Linda, Nancy, and Cindy. Doris became a homemaker dedicating herself to home, husband, and children.

Her daughters remember home being full of activities and always, a gathering place for friends. Like many of her era, prior to marriage she trained to be a secretary. After raising her family, she found satisfaction in going back to work and volunteering.

She was a member and officer of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 520 and served two terms as President of the American Business Women’s Association, Pioneer Charter Chapter. After the death of her husband, she moved to Columbia to be closer to her daughter, Nancy. She is survived by three daughters, Cindy Shepherd (Denis Walker), Nancy Shepherd (Brian McInerney), and Linda Jensen.

First cousins Duane (Janice) Eyth, Donna (John) Flory, and Barbara (Bob) Hinschliff. The family would like to thank all her supportive friends and caregivers. Funeral Service will be at 11am, Fri.

February 15th at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64131. Burial held at 11am, Sat. , February 16th at Mt.
