Timothy’s Obituary Timothy Earl Thompson, 63, passed away on January 5, 2019 at Research Medical Center. He was born July 7, 1955 in Kansas City, Kansas to the union of Floyd Thompson, Sr. and Mable Lee Thompson. Timothy was the third born of ten children.
Both parents proceeded him in death in addition to four brothers, Floyd Jr. “Bug”, Victor Tyrone “Pistol”, Dwight Joseph “Joe-Joe”, and Michael J “Tommy” Thompson. As a youth, Timothy attended both Blessed Sacrament Elementary and Lillis High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Timothy’s outgoing personality and athleticism gained him a position on his school’s basketball team (#24).
Timothy also acquired close friendships during those years, building long lasting friendships and bonds specifically with Robert Carter, Butch Pickens, William Robertson, Ronald and Eugene Broyle. So close in fact that Timothy and friends (William, Ronald, and Robert) formed a singing group, called “Showcase”. This ambitious group of young men obtained costumes and entered into talent show contests.
Timothy performed with “Showcase” at the Boys & Girls Club and Martin Luther King, Jr. Timothy Earl Thompson served in the United States Army. After serving almost 15 years of honorable and merit achieved service, he sustained a lifetime injury resulting in his honorable discharge in September of 1988. While ranked as a Specialist Four for the 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Timothy E. Thompson was a recipient of The Army Achievement Medal, a merit achievement for his attention to detail, professionalism and exceptional task force technical skills.
Additionally, Timothy Earl Thompson’s recognition for meritorious achievement in the United States Army Task Force is one of the finest traditions titled “American Fighting Soldier”. Thank you, Corporal Timothy E. Thompson for your service. Timothy enjoyed family time and watching TV shows like Judge Judy and National Geographic.
To know Tim “Tee” was to know he ABSOLUTELY enjoyed his “medicine”. He was not shy with words and BIG in heart! While Tim never married, his heart belonged to Brenda Carter.
Timothy is survived by two brothers, Lloyd C. Thompson (Marilyn) and Roger L. Thompson; three sisters, Yvonne K. Thompson-Davenport (Lester), Linda D. Durham (Albert), and Leslie Thompson; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, other family and friends. Funeral services Thursday, January 17, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery.
