Deacon Isaiah Washington of North Kansas City, Missouri September 9, 1950 – January 14, 2019 Isaiah Washington was born September 9, 1950, to the late Ozie Washington and Roberta Griggs Washington in Halley, Arkansas. He was the third child of seven children. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jo Willie Washington Harris and two brothers, La Mark and Melvin Hobbs.

He graduated from Desha High School May 9, 1970. Isaiah was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, which he served from July 22, 1971 until receiving an honorable discharge July 21, 1975. He moved to Kansas City in 1976.

Isaiah was a carpenter by trade and loved working with his hands. He was a very gentle, kind and laid-back man who loved the Lord, his family and his church family. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior a longtime ago and became well acquainted with Jesus as he journeyed through his life.

Isaiah was very instrumental in the building of the Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon until the Lord called him home. He was quiet in nature by was a pillar of support to those who really knew him. Isaiah and his loving wife, Lee Ellen Marie Washington were married October 21, 1989 and to their union they had a combined family of 6 children.

Isaiah departed this life on Monday, January 14, 2019. He leaves to remember him always: his loving wife, Lee Ellen M. Washington of North Kansas City, MO; aunts, Mattie Ward of Portland, OR and Ruth Hardy of KCMO; sisters, Ocie Washington Anderson and Willeen Hobbs Courtney of McGehee, AR and Rebecca Hobbs of Atlanta, GA; his children, La Keisha (Kenneth) Jones, Darell Baylis, Terry Brown all of KCMO, Andrea Jefferson Cleary of Belton, MO, La Tonyia Baylis and La Tasha (Ray) Robinson both of KCMO and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services for Mr. Washington will be held 10:30 AM.

Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the church.
