Doris Gay Bias, 83, of Foster, WV was born in Monclo, WV. She passed away February 10, 2019 at Hubbard House West in South Charleston from complication of Alzheimer’s. She was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Ann (Pennington) Hicks; her husband James”Buck” Bias, Jr.; one brother Curtis Hicks of Macon, GA; and one sister, Avalee Schultz of Big Ugly, WV.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (James) Mullins of Foster; her grandson Josh Chaffin of Madison; one brother, M.R. “John” (Shirley) Hicks of Medina, Ohio; and one sister, Becky (John) Yeager of Quinlan, Texas. Doris attended Sharples High School. Throughout her life she held a variety of jobs starting out selling popcorn at Hager’s Theater in Clothier, WV.

Marriage took her to Cleveland, Ohio where she worked at the American Greetings Card Company and at Royal Castle as a waitress. She continued as a waitress for several years at The Mountaineer Drive-In and later as owner-operator of the Danville Diner. For a time she worked in Madison at Ben Franklin Dime Store and as a cashier at Kroger.

Her longest employment was as a seamstress for Mine Ventilation Systems at Rock Creek, WV. Her last job was as a delivery truck driver for Corky’s flower Shop in Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 51 Madison Ave.

Madison, WV at 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 with Fr. Neil Buchlein presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association of West Virginia or a charity of your choice. We are very grateful to the staffs of Hubbard House West, Charleston General MICU, Hillcrest Health Care Center and Boone Memorial Hospital for the care she received.
