Memorial services for Doris Hooper, 79, of Pollok, will be held Monday, May 20, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating. Ms. Hooper was born October 14, 1939, in Pollok, Texas, the daughter of Billy Taft Goodwin and Mazie Lee (Wise) Goodwin, and died Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in Lufkin.

Ms. Hooper loved to work in her garden and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She worked as a welder for Lufkin Industries for 27 years. Ms. Hooper is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jimmy Hyatt of Pollok; son, Richard Hooper of Pollok; granddaughter, Kim Hyatt of Beaumont; granddaughter, Kelly Hyatt of Nacogdoches; and brother, Norris Goodwin of Pollok.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Billy Goodwin Jr., Gerald Goodwin, James Goodwin, and Robert Goodwin; and sister, Audrey Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Oliver, Jimmy Hyatt, Bradley Goodwin, and Norris Goodwin Jr. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
