Doris’ Obituary Doris Marie Goodwin, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC. Doris was born on February 28, 1939 in Richmond County, NC, a daughter of the late William Reid and Beulah Elizabeth Howell Webb. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Fred Goodwin.

She is survived by her sons, Michael D. Goodwin, Christopher S. Goodwin(Angela); her grandson Trevor Goodwin; great-grandson, Bentley Goodwin, and her sisters, Carol Fugate and Cynthia Campbell A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday at Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.

Our Mom My Mom has been the moral compass, her faith lends us strength, reminding us that God does exist. Ever no doubt our Dad was the love of her life, for life. She loves her sons overwhelmingly with only our birthdays making us different.

With her kitchen talents, Dad, brother and I were spoiled. Many times I felt ruthful for my peers and friends as I grew, knowing they all did not experience coming home from school with a mother always there with open arms and an after school snack and unconditional love to patch things up. Always my advocate when I fell sick or scorned by my friends, and especially when being “disciplined by Dad”.

It’s heartrending when I think about my Mom’s straightforward advice and guidance I sometimes dismissed, later to be humbled by taking time to appreciate it. Mom is the same person she was when I uttered my first words, and have depended on that rock throughout my life. She has the family she always wanted, my Dad, Brother and me….

. and so do I. In all of the travels in life, if occasionally, like me, you reflect back through the years of your life and smile, you know you have the best Mom and there exists no other kind of love like it.
