OBITUARY Doris Mary Heckel May 12, 1927 – December 2, 2018 Doris M. Heckel, 91, passed away December 2, 2018 at Hillcrest Village. Doris was born in Louisville, KY on May 12, 1927, attended St. Vincent de Paul Elementary and was a 1945 graduate of Atherton High School. A loving and devout Christian, she attended Jeffersonville Christian Church in her final years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Heckel, with whom she shared both their talent for, and love of, dance and music. Beginning with square dancing, followed by round dancing, they eventually began their own round dance club, The Dancing Shadows, which included teaching classes. Doris also shared her piano and organ skills, lovingly teaching her grandchildren the basics, and by playing the keyboard during Sunday Worship Services at Parkway Medical for many years along with her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Norman Fow.

Also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Neil Looney, Doris is lovingly survived by her three children: Diane Looney, Carol Dunman, and Daniel Heckel(Sheila), her grandchildren: Leah McMillen(Matthew), Robert Cline(Shannon Money), Joe Dunman, Kathryn Drane(Ryan), Jacob Dunman(Nicole), Benjamin, Erin Elizabeth(Timothy Owen), Jonathan, Andrew, and Christopher Heckel, seven great-grandchildren, and by her sister Shirley Fow(Norm), along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place from 1-8pm Friday, December 7, 2018 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 8 at 10am, with visitation from 9am until time of the service.
