Doris Rath was born on April 7, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. She was born into eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 28, 2018. She took her last peaceful breaths in the arms of her loving and devoted husband, Douglas.

Doris was beautiful inside and out, and she made the world a more beautiful place in every way.
As a gifted artist and award-winning gardener, her special Victorian tea parties and bible studies were a refreshing slice of heaven in the midst of a chaotic world. Her set designs, labyrinth designs, and costumes made all of her events special occasions. Doris opened her home and heart to international students too, as a member of the Toledo International Hospitality Program.
She loved being a member of the “Keenagers” group at her beloved Westgate Chapel Church, and she founded “Sunday Night Fellowship” there for hundreds of people over many years to provide hope, worship, and friendship. Doris made certain that every person that she knew would never feel lonely, but always feel loved and special. With a twinkle in her eye, a radiant smile and a heartfelt prayer, she accomplished her goals.
As one of her many friends so eloquently said, “Doris has a way of taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary”. Doris is survived by her devoted husband Douglas Rath; sons Larry Semark, Doug Semark (Huikyong Song), and Jasin Rath; grandchildren Jeremiah Semark, Jordan Semark, and Evangeline Semark; sisters-in-law Joan Rath, Patty Somers (Art), Mary Mayer (Rick), Jennifer Young (Jimmy), Robyn Hawkins (Michael), and brothers-in-law Sam Rath (Wendy) and Greg Rath (Stacy). Doris leaves many beloved friends whom, to the end, she held close in her heart with joy.
Her family wishes especially to express their gratitude to Jody and Paul Myers, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Sue Wendt and the caregivers at Christian Home Care for their devoted and skillful care of Doris. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hasley and Lucy Chase; siblings Agnes, Henry, Pauline, Vera, Arthur, and Kenneth; great-grandson, Yakez Semark; Douglas’s parents, Robert and Virginia Rath; and sister, Judy Schroeder. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Monday, Dec 3rd at 11:00 AM at Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Dr., Toledo, Ohio. A luncheon will follow the service in the Family Life Center.
