DOROTHEA TOURNEAR Dorothea Irene Tournear, 87, of Quincy, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday (December 8, 2018) in St. Vincent’s Home. Born May 13, 1931 in Quincy, Dorothea was the daughter of Elmer and Katherine Graff Schwartz. Dorothea had been a member of the First Christian Church in Camp Point, Illinois.

She enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo and card games with her family and friends and loved music, dancing and going to country music shows. Dorothea was devoted to her family and she cherished the time she shared with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A 1949 graduate of Liberty High School, Dorothea had been employed by Lawless Grocery in Camp Point, Merchant’s Wholesale in Quincy and then as a hostess at St. Vincent Nursing Home until her retirement.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Ann Gordy (Dennis) of Plymouth, IL and Karen Lea Bridgeman (Kevin) of Quincy; a son, David Wayne Tournear (Jackie) of Quincy; a daughter in law, Judy Tournear of Quincy; fourteen grandchildren, Christopher Gordy (Lindsey), Ryan Gordy, Matthew Gordy (Carly), Shelly Ganz (Brian), Kameron Bridgeman (Megan), Katelea Bridgeman, Billy Tournear, A. J. Tournear (Marisa), Richard Tournear, Tiffany Tournear, Daniel Tournear, Dustin Tournear (Jennifer), Derick Tournear (Kayla) and Bridget Martin; twelve great grandchildren, Bailey Ganz, Madelyn Ganz, Ava Grace Ganz, Tegan Tournear, Jaelyn Tournear, Dalton Tournear, Drake Tournear, Ali Gordy, Kennedy Gordy, Rosalyn Tournear, Henry Bridgeman and Lydia Bridgeman; two brothers, Ralph Schwartz of Quincy and Clifford Schwartz (Alma) of Ft. Wayne, IN; a sister, Marjorie Howell of Quincy; many loving nieces and nephews; and her longtime companion, Richard Cheatum. Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents; her step father, William Likes; a son, Lonnie Tournear; a granddaughter, Kara Bridgeman; a grandson, Andy Tournear; a sister, Mary Lou Brown; and a brother, Merle Leroy Schwartz.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Henry officiating. Burial will be in the Xander Cemetery in Liberty, Illinois. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Quincy Senior Center.
