DONALD L. “DON” COLVIN Donald L. “Don” Colvin, 84, of Quincy, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Friday (April 27, 2018) in his home surrounded by his two children. Born April 30, 1933 in Ursa, Illinois, Don was the son of James Wilbur and Fern Viola Daugherty Colvin. He married Constance “Connie” Woolsey on October 26, 1957 in Mendon, Illinois.

She preceded him in death on May 19, 2011. Mr. Colvin served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. Don enjoyed working in his yard, restoring old cars, especially Ford Mustangs and Thunderbirds, boating on the Mississippi and the many trips he took to the Lake of the Ozarks with his family.

Don began his career in sales with with Woolsey Plymouth DeSoto. Later he worked at the Ford dealership in Quincy beginning in sales and later moving up to become General Manager. Years later Don then continued in sales with Rod Smith Chevrolet which became Buford Ward Chevrolet.

After a brief two week retirement in 2003, Don wanted to stay active and became a beloved courtesy shuttle driver for Shottenkirk Chevrolet for the last 15 years. Survivors include a son, Craig Stephen Colvin (Sandy) of Montpelier, VT; a daughter, Callie Kay Grant (Mark Schwindeler) of Quincy; four grandchildren, Zoe Colvin, Willem Colvin, Lauren Grant and Emma Grant; a brother, Ted Colvin (Donna) of Quincy and one nephew, Jeff Colvin of California. Mr. Colvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Connie; and a sister, Bonnie Jean Colvin.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Tuesday morning from10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Unity Point Hospice.
