PAULIINE BENNETT Pauline Bennett, 96, of Quincy, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Friday (January 4, 2019) at St. Vincent’s Home. Born January 27, 1922 , in Augusta, Illinois, Pauline was the daughter of John Thomas and Louise Butler Garwood. She married Robert “Bud” Bennett on June 11, 1949 in Quincy.

He preceded her in death on August 29, 1997. Pauline was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where she was active with the funeral dinner committee. An avid Quincy Blue Devil Basketball fan, Pauline also enjoyed traveling, tending to her garden, playing cards, especially Canasta, with her family and friends and bowling, serving as Secretary for her bowling league.

Pauline had a heart for helping others and was a volunteer at the Blessing Tea Room for many years. She was devoted to her family who remember her as an awesome grandma who loved following all of her grandchildren’s activities. Pauline was a graduate of Plymouth High School and Gem City Business College.

She worked in the office of Brower Manufacturing prior to her marriage. She went back to work in the early 1980’s as a cook at Monroe School for several years until her retirement. Survivors include two children, Sara Bradfield (George) of Quincy and John T. Bennett of Quincy; four grandchildren, Dan Bradfield (Heather) of Quincy, Chad Bradfield (Melissa) of Quincy, Jamie Bradfield of Quincy and Scott Bradfield (Kristin) of Ft.

Collins, CO; eight great grandchildren, Devin Bradfield, Aubrielle Bradfield, Bryson Bradfield, Caylee Bradfield, Elise Bradfield, Gavin Bradfield, Cassidy Bradfield and Oliver Bradfield; and many loving nieces and nephews. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bud; a brother, Murlyn T. Garwood; and two sisters in law, Dorothy Garwood and Sara E. Bennett. Funeral prayer services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at St. Peter Catholic Church with Monsignor Leo Enlow officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 8:30 until the time of the prayer service at 9:30 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s School or Quincy Notre Dame High School.
