CLIFFORD POPPENHAGER Clifford Poppenhager, 76 of Quincy passed away at 7:34 a.m. Friday (January 4, 2019) in Blessing Hospital. Born September 2, 1942 in Quincy, Clifford was the son of Leroy (Roy) E. and Doris Swanson Poppenhager. He married Barbara Brown on July 2, 1960 in Palmyra, Missouri.

Clifford enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, bird feeding and coon hunting. Mr. Poppenhager was employed as a security guard at the Electric Wheel, Illinois Veteran’s Home, the Quincy Public Schools. He was also employed as a Park Ranger for the Quincy Park System and he was the owner and operator of Pops Bait Shop.

Clifford enjoyed car dealer auctions and would occasionally drive purchased auction cars for Fergie Automotive. Survivors include his wife Barbara of Quincy; one daughter Tammy Leonard (Rick) of Marblehead, IL; two sons Terry Poppenhager (Sharey) of Payson and Todd Poppenhager (Danielle) of Quincy; five grandchildren Rebecca Stice (Isiah) of Quincy, James, Abigail and Chloe Poppenhager of Payson, Donavan Poppenhager of Quincy, and two great great grandchildren Kairi and Milo. Mr. Poppenhager was preceded in death by his parents.
