TIM LYONS Timothy J. “Tim” Lyons, 61, of Quincy, passed away at 2:13 a.m. Sunday (January 6, 2019) in Good Samaritan Home. Born June 1, 1957 in Grand Haven, Michigan, Tim was the son of John G. “Duffy” and Shirley Kluempel Lyons Jr He was previously married to Kathy Amburn Veihl.

He later married Christina “Tina” Bazany on July 6, 1991 in Grand Haven, Michigan. She survives. Tim was an active member of Madison Park Christian Church where he served as a youth group leader and enjoyed his men’s Bible study groups.

He was an accomplished artist, poetry writer and woodworker who was proud of building a 3 tier deck on his home. Tim was devoted to his family and enjoyed following their activites. Tim grew up living with Juvenile Diabetes.

He was recognized by the American Juvenile Diabetes Association for living with Type I Diabetes for over 50 years, more than doubling his life expectancy. He touched many lives with his cheerful and uplifting personality and will be remembered for his saying “I’m peachy all the way to the pit”. Tim was employed as a pattern maker at the Gardner Denver LaGrange Foundry for nearly 30 years until their closing.

He then entered the nursing program at Culver Stockton College until losing his eyesight. Survivors include his wife, Tina; his father, John “Duffy” Lyons Jr. of Baldwin, MI; four children, Andrew Lyons, Nicole Holtschlag (Nathan), Trenton Lyons and Kayci Lyons all of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Adam Altmix, Austin Altmix, Dawson Altmix, Dylan Altmix, Braeden Lyons, Isabella Lyons and Grant Holtschlag; two brothers, Cliff Lyons (Pam) and John Lyons III (Sue) both of Grand Haven, MI; two sisters, Debbi Westerback and Dawn TenBrink both of Grand Haven, MI; three sisters in law, Sherri Lyons, Cyndi LaSitis and Kara Perry (Dave); and two brothers in law, David Bazany (Leighann) and Kevin Bazany (LaDon); his father in law, Ron Bazany; and many loving nieces and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley; a sister, Kimmie Lyons; and a brother, Jeff Lyons.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at Madison Park Christian Church with Pastor Keith Ehresman officiating. Inurnment will be held later in Michigan.

Visitation will be Friday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at Madison Park Christian Church. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
