ARLEN REX POWER Arlen Rex Power, 89 of Quincy passed away at 6:25 a.m. Sunday (December 2, 2018) in the Illinois Veterans Home. Born March 22, 1929 in Gorin, Missouri, Rex was the son of Arlie and Marie Smith Power. He married Jeanette Hill on July 24, 1960 in Hamilton, IL.

She survives. Rex served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a 1947 graduate of Keokuk High School and attended the DeVry Tech School in Chicago.

In his younger years he played American Legion Baseball and with the Robbins Air Force Base Baseball Team. He was privileged to take the Great River Honor Flight in 2015 with his son Greg as his guardian. Rex attended Columbus Road Baptist Church and Bible Baptist Church.

He enjoyed listening and singing gospel music, camping, fishing, deer hunting, pheasant hunting and trap shooting. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Mr. Power was employed as a Broadcast Engineer for Quincy Broadcasting Company for 26 years.

He also taught basic electronics at the Quincy Area Vocational Technical Center and owned and operated River City TV/VCR Repair. Survivors include his wife Jeanette “Jan” Power of Quincy; one daughter Brenda Kay Wortman and her husband Michael of Palmyra, MO; one son Gregory Arlen “Greg” Power and his wife Terry of Quincy. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Joshua “Josh” Wortman, Hannah Wortman, Adam Power and Benjamin “Ben” Power and nieces and nephews.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Bertie Mae Rose, a nephew Dennis Rose and a niece Julie Bushchling. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning 10:00 a.m. in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home with Pastor David Hall and Pastor Bob Cowman officiating. Burial with military honors by the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard and the Quincy American Legion Post No.

37 will be in Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Thursday morning from 9:00 until time of services at the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home. Memorials may be made to Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund.
