Dorothy Ann Hill Shoemake of Seminary, Mississippi January 27, 1945 – February 8, 2019 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Dorothy Ann Hill Shoemake, 74 of Seminary, who passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at her residence. Reverend Tim Hubbard, Reverend Mike Davis, and Reverend Glenn Shoemake will officiate at the services. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Donna Wilcosky, Mr. Bill Rogers, and Reverend Tim Hubbard.
Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Ray Pickering, John Corbit Pickering, and Charles McPhail.
Mrs. Shoemake was born on January 27, 1945 in Aberdeen, Mississippi, spent the majority of her youth growing up in Belzoni, Mississippi. Mrs. Shoemake was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all that knew her. Mrs. Shoemake owned and operated Ms. Ann’s Kindergarten for twelve years out of her home.
She later managed the James Dry Cleaners and Buckos Dry Cleaners for over thirty years before her retirement. Mrs. Shoemake was very talented at the artistic skill of stained glass and was a member of the Mississippi Artists Guild. She attended the Seminary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton Billy “A.B.” Hill, and Ruby Hutchins Turner. Survivors include her husband of fifty-one years, Hershel Lavelle Shoemake of Seminary; her daughter, Dr. Shelley Marie Shoemake of Seminary; a foster daughter, Edna Tanous of Olive Branch; two grandsons, Sage Edward Rials and Asher David Lee Rials, both of Seminary; two sisters, Peggy Marie Roberts, and her husband, David of Bruce, and Ruby Olene Watts, and her husband, Frank of Laurel; a brother-in-law, L.V. (Bennett) Shoemake, and his wife, Robbie of Collins; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Raulston of Hattiesburg and Edwina Graham of Brandon; and her nieces and nephews, Don Williams, Tammy Roberts, Brian Watts, Cindy Fulton, Jason Watts, Glenn Shoemake, Brenda McPhail, Connie Gore, Carol Easterling, Kathy McKeller, and Judy Sutton. The family request that memorials be made to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105, or to the college funds for her grandsons, Sage and Asher.
