Dorothy Burdette Morey December 08, 1924 – February 25, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Dorothy Morey was born on December 8, 1924 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Louie and Inger Nelson. Shortly thereafter they moved to St. Paul, Nebraska and lived there before moving to Denver where she attended school. After her graduation from North High School, she was employed as Secretary for the Potentate of The Shriners – El Jebel Temple.

Dorothy was later employed at Financial Industrial Funds, Inc. where she met and married Wendell F. Morey. Later, her sons Ken and Fred were adopted by “Morey”. Throughout her life with Morey, they built and decorated several homes in Colorado.

In 1968, Dorothy and Morey moved to their Charolais cattle ranch in southwest Loveland. They also wintered in Palm Desert, California where golfing became Dorothy and Morey’s passion. Their love of golf led to their involvement in the creation and development of Mariana Butte Golf Course.

Dorothy was also responsible for the donation of the Lone Tree School at North Lake Park. After her husband’s death, Dorothy moved to Fairway Ridge and most recently resided at Hillcrest. Dorothy was preceded in death by an infant son, husband Wendell F. Morey, her mother and father, grandson Kyle, sister and her husband Florence and Carl Huntington, and nephews Richard Morey and Bill Huntington.

Dorothy is survived by her 2 sons and their wives Kenneth and Susan Morey, Frederick and Barbara Morey; 2 grandchildren, Christopher of California, and Tara of Durango; and several nieces and nephews. A private graveside memorial for the family will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens beside her husband and parents.
