Dorothy Donna “Dee Dee” Smith age 96 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Thursday afternoon, June 28, 2018 at the Sturgis Hospital. She was born January 21, 1922 in Reed city, Michigan daughter of the late Carl and Edna (Bodell) Hatch. Dee Dee resided in Sturgis since 2009 coming from Battle Creek.

On June 20, 1947 she married Forrest Lyle Smith in Kent County, Michigan. He died May 19, 2012. Dee Dee was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed reading.

She is… Read More » survived by two sons: Darryl Forrest (Carol Ann) Smith of Sturgis and Eugene Scott Smith of Angel Fire, New Mexico; two grandsons: Scott (Pearl) Smith and Kenneth Smith; two great grandchildren: Elliot Smith and Penny Smith and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother: David Hatch and one sister: Betty Kreischer. A graveside service and burial will take place at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
