Obituary for Dorothy (Dottie) M. Ecker Beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center Cooper. Age 57 years. The daughter of Joseph Finelli and the late Betty (Meehleder) Finelli, Dorothy was born February 4, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan.

She married Wayne Ecker, her loving husband of 34 years, on October 27, 1984. He survives her. Dottie was employed in numerous capacities at Birch Run School District for over 17 years until her retirement in 2013.

She was a past member of St. Francis de Sales Parish and a current member of Ss. Francis and Clare Parish in Birch Run. Dottie enjoyed vacationing on the beach, shopping, fishing and spending time at the family cottage in Rose City.

Most of all, Dottie loved spending time with her family and especially her sisters. Surviving besides her husband Wayne are two sons and their spouses who will always mean the world to her, Kyle and Stephanie Ecker, Clawson; Cody and Sara Ecker, Lake Jackson, Texas; Dottie’s father, Joseph Finelli, Birch Run; two sisters and one brother, Cindy Horn, Bridgeport; Debbie and Tom McGrandy, Birch Run; Mike and Cindy Finelli, Hartland, Michigan; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends; Dottie also enjoyed the company of her dog, Gracie. Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. Francis de Sales Church, 3945 Williamson Road in Bridgeport.

Rev. Fr. John Mancini, O.S.F.S.

, will officiate. Honoring Dottie’s wishes, cremation will follow. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home.

Friends may visit at St. Francis de Sales Church where the family will be present on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society for Head & Neck Research.
