Thursday, December 27, 2018 in Trinity Baptist Church with Bro. Eddie Coast, pastor officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Dorothy E. Lewis, age 84 of Lawton passed from her earthly life on December 24, 2018. She was born February 5, 1934 to Marshall and Eula (Stephens) Pennington in Hulen, Ok.

She grew up in the Hulen and Geronimo area. She graduated from Geronimo High School in 1952. After graduation, she went to work for Security Bank and Trust and later worked at Home Savings and Loan.

In 1986, she helped her daughter, Gail Lewis, MD, set up her medical practice and worked as the office manager until her retirement in 2005. She married William (Bill) Lewis on June 16, 1953 at Trinity Baptist Church in Lawton, OK. They spent their married life in Lawton.

They had two children, Gail Lewis, MD and David Lewis. Bill lovingly cared for Dorothy for the last few years of her life. In her younger years, she was active in the church as a WMU officer and Sunday School teacher.

She enjoyed canning food that she and Bill grew in their garden. She enjoyed watching sports (baseball, basketball and football) on TV. She especially liked watching OU.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bill, her daughter, Gail Lewis, MD, Lawton and her granddaughter Danielle Lewis, Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by a brother, Johnny Pennington, Lawton and a sister, Marsha Duggins, Henderson, NV. There are also a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Stephen Pennington, an infant brother Grover Cleveland and a sister Ramona Baughman. Her beloved son, David, preceded her just last year.
