Obituary for Mrs. Dorothy Esther Thompson Young Dorothy E. Young, age 83, passed away peacefully at home in Gibbstown on Sunday, March 11, 2018. Born May 6, 1934 in Paulsboro, she was the daughter of the late William Earl Thompson and Esther Thompson. Dorothy was preceded in death by brothers William, Paul, Leroy, Benjamin and Elwood.

She is survived by her brother, Stanley Thompson of South Pasadena, FL and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy graduated from Paulsboro High School in 1953, where she played field hockey and earned the award for Home Economics. As the family historian, she loved sharing stories of her grandfather James Thompson and his brothers, all members of the 1890 Thompson Brothers Baseball Team of Paulsboro, NJ.

Her great-grandmother Anna was the captain and coach of the team. A woman of Christian faith, Dorothy was a faithful member of Kingsway Baptist church and rarely missed a church service. Hers was a life dedicated to learning the bible, teaching and attending Sunday School, and supporting missionaries around the world.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Saturday April 21, 2018 in Kingsway Baptist Church, 744 Kings Hwy. , Mickleton. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family after 1:30 PM Saturday until service time in the church.
