Obituary for Mrs. Lenora Popp Lenora Popp (nee Bruno) age 86 years of Mickleton journeyed home to our Lord Jesus on July 4, 2018, her independence day from pain and suffering. She was born in her parents’ home in Burlington, New Jersey on October 8, 1931. As a young girl, she displayed an affable personality that continued as she grew in years.
While in high school, she began a career path of secretarial service. After graduating in 1950, she was employed by the federal government, working for various officers at Fort Dix. Unbeknownst to either her or her beloved future husband, they walked the same paths of the U.S. Army base without meeting for several years until matchmaking friends in a fateful, rainy night introduced them during a card game of canasta.
Lenora continued her career after marriage and children, brokering insurance with Travelers Insurance and administratively assisting the Housing and Athletic Directors at Rowan University, however, she considered her role as wife, mother and grandmother to be her most important purpose in life. Lenora was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Glassboro and enjoyed reading, cooking, cross stitch and lovingly caring for her family. She truly touched the lives of all those she met.
She is survived by her children, Stephen and Roberta Popp of Pittsgrove, Timothy and Susan Popp of Brooksville, Florida, Rebecca Popp of Mickleton; her grandchildren, Vanessa and Dan Buidens of St. Petersburg, Florida, Joshua Popp and Jamie Popp, both of Lynchburg, Virginia; her sister, Rose Futia of Gibbstown and her sister in law, Margaret Bruno of Westminster, Colorado. Mrs. Popp was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Popp; her brothers, Joseph, Mario and Peter Bruno and her sister, Connie Pellini. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday July 9, 2018 in the McBride – Foley Funeral Home, 228 W. Broad St., Paulsboro.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family Monday morning after 9:30 AM until service time. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, Monroe Township. Contributions can be made in her memory to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
