Dorothy G. “Dot” Kempf, age 85, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019. She was born October 29, 1933 in Rockcastle County, KY to Lewis and Florida (Nichols) Doan. Dot moved from Kentucky to Muskegon in 1949 until moving to Florida in 1997.

She returned to Muskegon in 2005. On December 12, 1964, she married Larry J. Kempf in Holton, MI and he preceded her in death in 1989. Dot worked for Sealed Power Corporation for 47 years prior to retiring in 2000.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and baking pies, but her family was the center of her universe. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Floria L. (Nick) Mason of Muskegon, Donna M. (Gary) Kempf-Barnes of Spring Lake, Todd (Brenda) Kempf of Spring Lake; 7 grandchildren: Matthew (Angela) Mason, Alexandria (Kristen) Mason-Suing, Timothy Mason, Miranda Barnes, Aaron (Hannah) Barnes, Lisa (Craig) Harris, Daniel (Jill) Mason; 6 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; 3 brothers: Burgess (Sandra) Doan of Cincinnati, OH, Bobby Doan of Muskegon, Jesse (Renee) Doan of Norton Shores; 3 sisters: Ruth Malott of Batavia, OH, Lucille (Pat) Bulthouse of Norton Shores, Rose (Bryan) McClain of Spring Lake; sister-in-law, Mary Doan of Muskegon; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Lewis Doan, Jr. and Ray Doan; sister, Mary “Edna” Knox; sister-in-law: Rose Doan; and brothers-in-law: Bill Knox and Alan Malott.

SERVICES for Dot will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with Pastor Ron McClain officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to the Alzheimer’s Association or Medical Team Hospice of Grand Rapids will be appreciated.
