Dorothy G. Getgen, 88, of Antes Fort, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at her home. Born August 14, 1929, Gravel Hill, Woolrich, she was a daughter to the late Lewis A. Kennedy and the former Tessie M. Fry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. “Cy” Getgen; a daughter, Wendy Getgen; brothers, Clifford and Raymond; and sisters, Ruth, Mary, Martha, Goldie, Evelyn and Helen.

Dorothy was a 1947 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. Throughout the years, she worked at Woolrich and Kelco, and was a member of the Antes Fort United Methodist Church. Early in her life Dorothy enjoyed playing guitar and singing, but came to love caring for her family, cooking and keeping a clean home.

She also enjoyed playing cards and watching game shows on TV. Surviving are two children, Tim L. (Tammy) Getgen of Antes Fort, and Penny L. Sholly of Antes Fort; a wonderful sister, Hazel L. Bower of Antes Fort; many nieces and nephews; 9 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. A funeral service honoring the life of Dorothy will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at Welker Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Jones will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Cy, in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
