Dorothy (Dot) Jean Moreland was born on October 8, 1937 to Booker T. Matthews and Thelma Friends Rhoades. She was the fourth of eight children. Dorothy gave her life to Christ many years ago and was Baptized.

Dorothy received her call from the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 12:57 p.m. surrounded by family and friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Booker T. Matthews and Thelma Friends-Rhoades, two brothers, Bobby Jo Friends, Tommie Matthews, a special person in her life, Theodore C. Davis, her husband, David Moreland, son, Theodore J. Friends, and step-son, Albert L. Rush. Dorothy attended RT Coles High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Dorothy was employed by Waid’s Restaurant for sixteen years. She was also employed by the state of Missouri at Western Missouri Mental Health Center for thirty-seven years before retiring in 2008. Dorothy loved working, it was her lively hood.

Dorothy loved to make dinner rolls. Dorothy’s favorite drink of choice was Coca-Cola switched to ginger ale. While having a conversation Dorothy favorite words was and what make it so killing and another thing about that is what she would say.

Dorothy was crazy about her dog, Chopper Turner. Dorothy’s memory will be forever cherished by her children, a daughter, Deborah L. Friends Stention of Raytown, Missouri; a son, Tony Friends, Sr. of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Thelma M. Friends of the home; Godson, Andre Campbell of Kansas City, Missouri; Goddaughter, Louvilla (Lou) Neely; two brothers, Nathaniel Friends, William Friends; brother-in-law, Charles Moreland; five sisters, Maxine Turner, Erma Jean Fonteno, Gloria Jean Rhodes, Faye Lee Brown and Betty William all of Kansas City, Missouri; she leaves ten grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) at Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, 2530 Brooklyn Avenue, KCMO.
