Obituary for Dorothy Mae Leggett Yingling On December 10, 1924, Dorothy Mae Leggett was born to Jennings & Roxy (King) Leggett. She was the eldest of 6 children, preceding Jean, Mona, Robert, Dennis (Sadie), & Jimmy (Patty). In 1943, she married J.W. Yingling and had 3 boys that she loved very much and believed to be her greatest achievement in life: David (Venice), Steve (Sharon), and Stan (Benita).

It wasn’t until she began having her daughters-in-law that she knew the feeling of having daughters. These three girls would, also, bring great joy to her life and provide her with the next greatest achievement, grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her 6 grandchildren: Steven (Jennifer), Davy (Tiffany), Wil (Marisa), Dana (Matt) House, Shaunna (Seth) Barber, and Lacey Yingling; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; 8 nieces and 6 nephews.

Dorothy was extremely proud of her family. During young adulthood, she worked at Camp Robinson with the German prisoners, attended Draughn’s Business School in Little Rock, and later, received a degree at a beauty school in 1962. For more than 50 years, Dorothy faithfully attended Bethel Grove Church of Christ.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother (Roxy) in 1995, daddy (Jennings) in 1996, sister (Jean) in 2005, and brother (Robert) in 2013. She missed them very much and talked of them often. Dorothy spent the last couple of years with excellent, loving care from the Oakdale Nursing Home staff, and recently, from Arkansas Hospice.

During her last days, she was surrounded by friends and family that she loved dearly. Covered with peace- that only comes from a relationship with our Lord and Savior- she passed from death into eternal life in heaven on Saturday, April 14. A celebration of her life will be held at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy, Arkansas on Thursday, April 19 at 7 p.m. The family visitation will be at 5 p.m. and open to the public at 6 p.m. Interment will be Friday, April 20 at the Providence Cemetery.
