OBITUARY Dorothy Marion Loyson August 8, 1922 – December 31, 2018 Dorothy Marion Loyson, 96, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018 in her home. Born August 8, 1922 in Chicago, IL. Daughter of Harry and Effie (Boyer) Duncan.

United in marriage to Robert R. Loyson on June 26, 1946 in St. Edwards Catholic Church. He predeceased her on August 28, 1978. Employed by City National Bank and Trust until retiring after 26 years.

Member of the Rockford Woman’s Club and Longtime member of Gloria Dei Church. As an avid golfer she was a member of the Woman’s golf league of Sandy Hollow and Twigs of Mauh-Nah-Tee-See. Together with friends she found enjoyment in traveling for lunches and going to plays.

Family and spending time with her grandchildren were her favorite pastime. Survived by her sons, Danny (Christine) Loyson, Thomas R. (fiancé Adela Martinez) Loyson; grandchildren, Cheri Loyson, Michael (Jessica) Loyson, Jennifer Loyson, Matthew (Lori) Trosper, Daniel (Lindsey) Loyson, Marshall Loyson; 9 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Barb Loyson; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Donna, Phil and Sophia. Predeceased by her parents, spouse; grandsons, Brian Thomas Loyson and Nathaniel D. Loyson; siblings, Virginia, Mary, Ellie and Oliver “Bud”.

Special thanks to the E.R. Cardiology staff at OSF, Presence Saint Anne Center and OSF Hospice. In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Dorothy’s name to OSF Hospice, 5501 E. State St, Rockford. Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 11 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine, Machesney Park.

Visitation at 1 p.m. until time of Service. Pastor Kenneth Storck is officiating. Burial at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
