Obituary for Dorothy (Dottie) Maxine Mercer Dorothy Maxine Mercer, known to all as Dottie and her grandchildren as Nauni, passed from this life peacefully at the age of 90 on May 12, 2018. Dottie waited for family members who had to travel to arrive before letting go of this life. She was born on August 18, 1927, to Clara and Dewey Mercer in Dayton, Ohio.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Elizabeth Gangluff. Surviving are her children, Karen Nagle of Hot Springs, NC; Jerry Scot Bach of Columbus, OH; Thomas A. Bach of Dayton, Ohio; Teresa Gornall of Bristol, England. Grandchildren: Dana Nagle of Marshall, NC; Jenna Nagle of Hot Springs, NC; Phil Jones (Angie) of Dayton, OH; Daniel Gornall of Bristol, England; Nathan (Tash) of Plymouth, England.

Greatgrandchildren: Ian Jones and Tripp Jones of Dayton, OH. She is also survived by a very special friend Elizabeth Hurley (Roy). Dottie lived a very long and full life from Dayton, Ohio, to Troy, Michigan, to Charlotte, NC and finally to Hot Springs, NC.

She graduated from Stivers High School in Dayton, Ohio. She worked as a receptionist in a law firm in Charlotte until she was 75 years old, then took a European tour to celebrate her retirement. She was an elegant, classy, stunning lady.

She was also proud, feisty and very opinionated. Dottie’s first love was her family. She loved to dance all of her life.

She also enjoyed playing cards, reading, cross stitching, and traveling. Her family is proud to say that in dying as in living: She did it her way! !

! The family requests memorials be made to: The Hot Springs Library or the Hot Springs Fire Department. A Celebration of Dottie’s Life will be held at the home of her daughter, Karen, 433 Lance Ave.
