Ruby Lee (Moore) Higgins, 87, of Asheville, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Universal Health Care, Fletcher. Born in Cruso, Haywood County, she was the wife of the late Burnard Avery Higgins, who died August 1, 2016, and the daughter of the late Mac and Ella (Howell) Moore. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Harry Glen Moore.

She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Asheville. Ruby Lee Higgins was an example of what we all should be: A loving mother that left markers for us all to follow. The love and concern she showed to all was a rare gift that only God could give, and Ruby exhibited His love to the fullest.

Remember her love, her kindness, and consideration to all. Ruby wanted us to follow her steps to Heaven, so as her last Christmas gift to the family, she gave us the road map we needed—a copy of God’s Word to show us the way. We love you Mamaw!

Ruby is survived by 3 sons and their wives: Michael and Isabel Higgins, Jimmy and Cindy Higgins; and Tim and Tammy Higgins; 2 daughters and their husbands: Judy and Robert Pack and Phyllis and Ron Gilliam; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters-in-law: Edith Moore, Katherine McLaughlin, and Betty Jo Higgins. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2018 at Chapel hill Baptist Church with Pastor Willard Pruitt officiating. Friends and family will be received from 1:30 to 2:30 prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott, Patrick, and Jacob Pack; Jason and J.B. Higgins; and Austin and Nate Deyton.
