HENDERSONVILLE – Michael W. Brandon, Sr. 67, formerly of Tampa, FL died peacefully late Tuesday evening after an extended illness with his loving family by his side. Michael was born in Sarasota, FL. to the late Lester and Mildred (McClain) Brandon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, the former Rebecca Jean Huff whom he married on March 14, 1970 in Denver, CO. He also leaves behind his three sons, Michael W. Brandon, Jr. of Palm Bay, Fl. Joesph S. (Brenda) Brandon of Hendersonville, NC and John A. Brandon of Spring Hill, FL.
Six grandchildren, Kristin, Alicia, Gina, Jacob, Joe, Jr. and Caleb. Two great-grandchildren, Sam and Jeremy, Jr. One sister, Debra Jean (Bob) Young, Jr of Bushnell, FL. Michael was employed at Sypris Electronics as a Software Engineer and had also served as the Associate Pastor at Christian Growth Fellowship of Tamp, FL.
It was quoted by Pastor Jathan Pennington, “Never have I had it so good” Our Brother Mike Brandon can now honestly say this, and now is rejoicing in the presence of the Lord. In 1977, under my dad’s ministry, and went on to be a champion for Christ. Serving as our Associate Pastor from 1995 until 2008.
His calling was as he put it “to be Pastor Penns Helper and assistant in his ministry”. They shared a very real bond of love, mutual respect and fellowship. Brother Mike had a very rare combination of intellect, dry humor, and devotion to duty, serving his country in the United State Air Force, loving and living for Jesus.
He was always one of the greatest encouragers to those in his sphere of influence. A celebration to honor Michael’s life will be Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Christian Growth Fellowship,149 April Lane Tampa, FL and also on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 12 Noon at The Church at Asheville, 79 Piney Mountain Road Asheville, NC 28805. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Brandon to the Elizabeth House, Four Seasons, 581 South Allen Street Flat Rock, NC 28731 or to the donor’s choice.
The family wishes to thank the angels of Hospice and all the many doctors and nurses for their love care given to Michael in his final week. God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered “COME TO ME”. With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Michael will forever be missed by his many friends and loving family. May God grant him eternal rest.
