Dorothy R. (Thinnes) Casteel, 92, of Greensburg, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, in RNC of Greater Pittsburgh. She was born Aug.

18, 1926, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Francis P. and Margaret V. Kistner Thinnes. Dorothy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Prior to working at Perfection Photo, she had worked as a long-distance operator for Bell Telephone and had also worked in the clerical department of Westmoreland Hospital.

She loved spending time with those who were dear to her and had an overwhelming compassion for all animals. She recently had said, “I have had a good life and there is nothing more that I could ask for”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Immel Casteel; and her brother, Robert F. Thinnes.

She is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Pelzer, of Greensburg, and Amy Zimmerman (Brian), of Ligonier; three grandchildren, Todd Pelzer (Cary), Heather George (Barry) and Vanessa Bell; two great-granddaughters, Samantha and Lila Bell; a special niece, Connie Pyle and her children, Adam and Ashley Pyle; and all of her beloved pets, Trudy, Casey, Ginger, Boots, Cricket, and the list goes on. The family would like to thank the staff of both RNC of Greater Pittsburgh and Excela Health Westmoreland for their loving care and compassion for Dorothy. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Dorothy from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC.
