Dorothy “Roselle” Kauffman, 86, of West Liberty passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 in the St. Rita Medical Center, Lima. She was born May 3, 1931, the daughter of the late J. Oliver and Allie Mae (Yoder) Yoder and was a lifetime member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, West Liberty. She was a 1949 graduate of West Liberty High School and later earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Wittenberg College in 1954.

Roselle was a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Sorority and Music Teachers National Association. Her teaching experience included the Wittenberg Preparatory piano department and piano instructor at Goshen College as well as West Liberty Elementary vocal and final 37 years of private piano and organ lessons. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, photography, accompanying, choir directing, and being organist where she played for the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty for many years.

On June 8, 1958 she married Clair S. Kauffman at Oak Grove Mennonite Church and he preceded her in death in 2008. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by three half-sisters, Saba Kanagy, Edna Pearl Yoder, Lydia Belle Krabill, two half-brothers, Clarence and Roy Yoder and one niece, Mary Lou Hooley. Survivors include a step-daughter, Nedra Fay (Richard) Fredrick, two step-grandchildren, Kristie (Kip) Humbert, Jon (Denise) Fredrick, five step great-grandchildren, Storm, Colt, Slayde, Rayce, and Braelyn Humbert, all of Fayette, OH and many nieces and nephews.

Pastor Dick Barrett will officiate a graveside service at 9:00 a.m. in Oak Grove Mennonite Cemetery followed by a visitation from 10 to 11:00 a.m. and an 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, West Liberty. Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty assisted the family with arrangements.
