Doug Fyfe October 25, 1947 – March 03, 2019 Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Malcolm Douglas Fyfe, Jr October 25, 1947 – March 3, 2019 Doug died Sunday March 3, 2019 after a ten year battle with Multiple System Atrophy and Parkinson’s Disease. He is survived by Cathy, his wife, Emily and Daniel Watts, daughter and son in law, and Wyatt and Waylon, grandsons. He is also survived by his sister and brother in law, Phyllis and Bob Browning of Metairie, Louisiana.

He leaves behind many great friends and memories. Born in Los Angeles, California, Doug spent his growing up years in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended St. Martin’s Episcopal School and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tulane University.

He loved education and had advanced degrees from University of New Orleans and Houston Baptist University. He was a registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana and Texas. Doug worked as a project manager, building office buildings, hotels, apartments, hospitals and schools in New Orleans and Houston.

Doug’s greatest joy was the time spent raising Emily, listening to music, traveling and dreaming about playing golf. He walked half and full marathons during the course of his disease. Doug loved the Del Webb Sweetgrass community.

He had a lot of fun times at parties and events. He made contributions to improving the neighborhood by serving on the Municipal Utility District Board and as a Valley Oaks neighborhood representative for two terms. He was a member of the Technology Club, Drama club, Photography Club, Men’s Club, and the Sweetgrass Singers.

He also served as a CASA volunteer and delivered Meals on Wheels in Fort Bend County. In regards to a memorial service, Cathy and Emily ask you to remember Doug by taking a moment to hug your child, grandchild or friend. His family reached the decision to remember Doug’s life without a memorial service.

Even in sickness, Doug celebrated his life by enjoying his daily interactions with friends and family. In lieu of donations, please consider a contribution to Houston Hospice or a charity of your choice.
