Douglas R. Bird, 88, of Montoursville died Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at UPMC Susquehanna-Williamsport. Born January 17, 1930 in Williamsport he was a son of the late Lloyd V. and Marion McCarty Bird. Douglas served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Montoursville Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and trustee. Douglas retired from Keystone Furniture in 1995. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.

Douglas enjoyed attending Williamsport Crosscutter and Lycoming College basketball and football games. Surviving are his children, Alison Cardone of Montoursville and Darryl (Wendy) Bird of Watsontown; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Bird; a daughter, Vickie M. Bird and siblings, Barbara Chagnon, Dorothy Laedlein, Jane Moore and Waldo Bird.

A funeral service to honor the life of Douglas will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm Street, Montoursville with Rev. David C. Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Interment will be in Montoursville Cemetery In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 205 Tule Street, Montoursville, PA 17754 Arrangements are entrusted to Sanders Mortuary.
