David L. Eakin, 76, of Montgomery passed away Nov. 8, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 4, 1942 in Williamsport.

David graduated from Williamsport Technical School in 1961. David worked most of his career as an independent insurance agent most recently as Regional Vice President of Henry Dunn Agency. David’s passion in life was participating in the community and enjoying time with his loving wife, children and growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He served on many local organizations, most notably; served on the West Branch Builder’s Association Board, Horizon Federal Credit Union Board, Clinton Township Planning Commission, the Williamsport Chamber of Commerce and was Chair of the West Branch Regional Sewer Authority. He was also a member of the local Muncy Lodge 299 F. & A. M. He also served on various committees at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montgomery including past president of the church council and orchestrating and cooking meals for large events. David is survived by his wife Gladys Louise (Kahler) Eakin who together would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on December 4, and his children and their families; Jennifer Bush (John Jr) of Muncy, Todd Eakin (Renee), of Lincoln University, Brian Eakin (Debbie) of Baltimore, and 4 grandchildren Justine Paquet (Lucas,) Julie Bush, Brett Eakin, Brenna Eakin, and 3 great grandchildren Aden, Liliegh and Colten.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul Eakin and Ruth (Frantz) Eakin, Schlee and brother Robert Eakin. A memorial service to honor the life of David will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday November 17 at St. John’s Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Rd. , Montgomery with the Rev.

Theodore Cockley officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Church Cemetery. A masonic service will be held at 8:45 a.m. with a visitation to follow from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran “Brick” Church.
