Jack L. Rice, 90, a lifelong resident of Williamsport, passed away with family by his side Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital. Born December 24, 1927, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Clifford and Florence Rice.

Jack served his country proudly during WWII in the United States Navy. He was a truck driver and talented mechanic all his life. Jack was a member of Oak Grove Alliance Church and was the kind of man who would help anyone in need.

He was a great neighbor and a loving family man, who showed extreme kindness to all. Jack’s outgoing, adventurous personality led him to enjoy rappelling and he was especially proud of the fact that he rappelled the New River Gorge Bridge at age 72. Surviving are two sons; Jeffrey J. Rice of Jersey Shore, Scott L. Rice of Lock Haven; a daughter Debra J. (Robert) Andrews of Jersey Shore; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Archer of Tunkhannock, and several extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers. A memorial service to honor the life of Jack will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport, with Rev.

Edgar Manns, officiating. Military honors will follow the service on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at Sanders.
