Duane W Todd, 84, was born in New Brunswick, NJ, to Dorothea and Joseph Sulo. He was raised in Rahway, NJ, and worked at his father’s upholstery shop. Duane enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served honorably during the Korean War.

After his military service, he worked in various construction trades in Monmouth and Middle Counties until his retirement. Duane was also very active in VFW Post 4247 in Keyport, NJ and served as Quartermaster and Commander of the post for many years. Duane also served as a VFW District Commander for District #6.

He dedicated countless hours over his life to our military veterans, their families, and their welfare. Duane was married to Paula Harding Todd for 30 years. Prior to his lengthy illness, they lived together in Highlands, NJ.

Duane raised seven children, Kip, James, Andrew, Lisa Garrison, Christopher, Daniel, and Tiffany. He had eight grandchildren, Alex and Allison Todd, Christina Piantanida and Heather Todd, Robert and Christopher Garrison, and Christopher and Aidan Todd. Duane also had one great-grandchild, Jack Piantanida.

Duane was predeceased by his parents, his sister Ethelma Todd-Waiton, and his brothers Kenneth Todd and Joseph Sulo. He is survived by his sisters Marion Sulo Goldberg, Ruth Sulo Epprecht and Deanna Sulo Ware. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Duane’s family would like to thank the staff of Arnold Walter Nursing and Rehabilitative Center for their care of Duane during his final years. He was treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. We will be forever grateful.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, November 21st, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey, 07730. A Service will be held at the funeral home during the visiting hours. Interment will be at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown NJ at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave. , 7th fl. , New York, NY 10001.
