Earl R. Mayle, 87, of Brilliant, Ohio, passed away Monday February 18, 2019 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH. He was born March 29, 1931 in Brilliant, Ohio, the son of the late Rufus and Clara (Hand) Mayle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes (Crawford) Mayle on February 6, 2018; a daughter, Janie Mayle; four brothers, Glenn, Harvey, Samer and Millard Mayle; and a sister, Addie Verhovec.

Earl owned Crawford Drilling Co He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was honored to serve the community as a Wells Township Trustee for 33 years.

Earl was a member of the Brilliant American Legion Post #573; the 40 & 8 of Jefferson County; Smithfield Masonic Lodge #182; Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville and the Shriners. He was Methodist by Faith Surviving are two sons, Earl James (Marian) Mayle of Oregon, OH; Thomas (Mary) Mayle of Savannah, GA; four sisters, Lois Kerr of Mingo Junction, OH, Mary (Kenneth) Brodzinski of Mesa, AZ, Edith (Joe) Fetty of Brilliant, OH and Martha (John) Domenick of Smithfield, OH; five grandchildren, Bradley (Cheyenne) Mayle, Marcie Mayle and her husband Todd, Mary Kate (Chris) Woloszyn, Lisa Dowell and Meghan Mayle; and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Carson, officiating.

Military Honors by the Brilliant American Legion Post #573 will follow his funeral services. Private interment at New Alexandria Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
