Earl W Martin, December 13, 1923 — March 05, 2019

Earl W. Martin, 95, of Old Bridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Venetian Care and Rehab Center in South Amboy, NJ. Earl was born on December 13, 1923 to Arthur and Minnie Mary Martin in Pinconning, MI. He was raised in Bay City, MI.

Earl proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Earl was awarded several accolades, including the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory in WWII Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with two bronze stars, and the American Theater Ribbon. His highest rank achieved was Captain.

After returning to Michigan State University, where he graduated in 1948, he worked for the Associated Press for the rest of his career until his retirement in December of 1989. On August 16, 1947, Earl married Margaret J. O’Leary. They lived in Indianapolis, IN before moving to Old Bridge in 1964.

Earl served as a Fourth Degree Knight in the St. Ambrose Knights Of Columbus. He was an avid reader and writer, an Amateur radio operator, and loved gardening. Earl is survived by his daughter, Mary Janine Martin of Old Bridge, NJ; his son, Patrick K Martin of Burnsville,NC; his son-in-law, Geoffrey Frischman of Ocean, NJ; and two grandsons, Gregory Frischman of Hazlet,NJ and his wife Veronica, and Michael Frischman of Old Bridge,NJ.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Martin of 65 years, in 2012; his father, Arthur Martin, his mother, Minnie Mary Denay Martin, and his daughter, Denise Anne Frischman. A Memorial Mass Of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at St. Ambrose Church in Old Bridge, NJ, will be announced at a date to be determined. Online condolences can be given at www.
