Eddie Morris Whitley November 15, 1932 – December 28, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Funeral services for Eddie Morris Whitley, 86, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Fred Smith officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Walker Cemetery under the auspices of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M. Mr. Whitley was born November 15, 1932 in Madison County, Texas to the late Mary (Colquitt) and Mills W. Whitley, and died Friday, December 28, 2018 in a local hospice facility.

Mr. Whitley resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Motel Enterprises following 20 years of employment. Mr. Whitley was a member of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Whitley loved life and his family so much. He was a devoted husband and father. His family gave him such great joy and he always put them first.

Mr. Whitley always did his best to support his family and those around him. He enjoyed playing games, laughing, and playing jokes on his children and grandchildren. His favorite TV shows and movies were westerns.

Mr. Whitley was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his daughters, Sheila ”Sherry” Elaine Robinson and husband George of Ashland, Virginia, Rhonda Lewis and husband Jackie of Crockett; sons, Eddie M. Whitley, Jr. of Austin, Gary Whitley and wife Amy of Lufkin; grandchildren, Jamie Robinson Respess and husband Jason, Jennifer Robinson, Nathan Beard, Jason Beard, Daniel Whitley and wife Rachel, Mallory Shea, and Devan Shea; great-grandchildren, Audrey Respess, Ethan Respess, Jorja Daily, Justene Daily, Joelle Daily, and Raelee Whitley; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dixie Lee (Phillips) Whitley; brothers, Billy Whitley, Hazlett Whitley, Mills Whitley, Jr., Arnold Whitley, Sugar Whitley, and Riley Whitley; and sisters, Emily Baltazar, Hope Wilson and Rella Lane.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Whitley, Nathan Beard, Jason Respess, Dillon Collins, Jason Beard, Colby Russell, and Devan Shea. Honorary pallbearer will be Claude Phillips. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, East Texas Chapter, 700 Olympic Plaza, Suite 904, Tyler, Texas 75701 or American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be added, and live webcasting of the services may be viewed at www. carrowayfuneralhome.com.
