Funeral services for Jose Ismael Bermudez, 49, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, December 28, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Lufkin with Rev. Ruben Luna and Rev. Sonia Bermudez officiating.

Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Bermudez was born September 27, 1969 in Santa Rosa, California, the son of Jose Bermudez and Leonila (Hernandez) Bermudez, and died Tuesday, December 25, 2018 in Lufkin. Mr. Bermudez loved hanging out with his nephews, listening to music, and watching sports.

He also loved to cook for his family and have get-togethers. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Julian and Anna Bermudez of Sherman, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Cesar and Maria Bermudez of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Maria Luisa and Juan Mijares of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Gerardo Rubio of Houston; sister, Elsa Bermudez of Lufkin; and sister-in-law, Genoveva Bermudez of Lufkin. Mr. Bermudez was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnulfo Bermudez and Carlos Bermudez; and sisters, Maria Antonia Reyes and Martha Jasso.

Pallbearers will be Mario Daniel, Jonathan Daniel, Marco Mijares, Miguel Mijares, Marcos Jasso, and Eduardo Reyes. Honorary pallbearers will be Julian Bermudez and Cesar Bermudez. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
