Vona Belle “Bonnie” Dukes August 15, 1925 – December 18, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Graveside services for Vona Belle “Bonnie” Dukes, 93, of Diboll will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 12:00 noon in the Garden Chapel of Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Texarkana with Pastor Phillip Dunn of Central Baptist Church of Texarkana officiating. Mrs. Dukes was born August 15, 1925 in Richards, Texas to the late Melissa Elizabeth (Smith) and Joe Oscar Norman, and died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in a local nursing home. Formerly of Texarkana, Mrs. Dukes had resided in Lufkin for more than 22 years.

She retired from William George Produce of Texarkana, Arkansas following 20 years of employment. Mrs. Dukes was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, earning her 50 year pin, and a longtime member of Central Baptist Church of Texarkana. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She was an excellent cook and enjoyed fishing, bowling and golf. Mrs. Dukes was a “people person” who took a genuine interest in everyone she knew. She was larger than life and will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.

Survivors include her daughter, Jo Lynn Scarbrough and husband Calvin of Lufkin; granddaughter, Melissa Klingberg and husband Jeff of Fort Worth; grandson, Jamie Scarbrough and wife Gigi of Plano; great-grandchildren, Brad Klingberg and wife Sage, Clayton Klingberg, Kelly Klingberg, and Catherine Belle Scarbrough; great-great-granddaughter, Carter Klingberg; sister, Billie Canon of San Angelo; special niece, Connie Passmore and husband Jimmie of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Harold Dukes in 1995. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
