Donald “Don” Craig May 01, 1933 – December 19, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Funeral services for Donald “Don” Craig, 85, of Lufkin will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Louie Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery. Don was born May 1, 1933 in Henderson, Texas to the late Ethelyn (Linney) and George C. Craig.

He died and went to Heaven Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in a local hospital. After graduating from Dayton High School, Don attended Baylor University on a track scholarship. He joined the U.S. Army and served two years.

The love of his life was his wife of 27 years, Jane Craig. Don enjoyed having a hook in the water with a large bass attached and using his engineering and construction skills to relocate and rebuild a 100-year-old cabin at Lake Sam Rayburn where he and Jane spent many weekends. Don retired from B&J Excavating at the age of 81.

Don is survived by his wife, Jane (Barker) Craig of Lufkin; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ed Jones of Lufkin; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Kim Widner of Austin, Russell and Paige Widner of Kingwood, and Mike and Stacey Widner of Bastrop; step-grandchildren, Tyson Smithhart of Lufkin, Lauren Smithhart Kraus of Longview, Julie Burris and husband Jason of Flower Mound, Jordan Jones and wife Lauren of Keller, Natalie Cooke and husband Brandon of Dallas, Jackson Widner and wife Macy, Anna Widner and fiancé Tim Hanna, Jameson Widner, all of Houston, Myles Widner and wife Amber of Kingwood, Brock Widner, and Cole Widner, both of Bastrop; eight step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jerry Barker and wife Mary of Lufkin; and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Jordan Jones, Jameson Widner, Jackson Widner, Myles Widner, Brock Widner, Cole Widner, Jason Burris, and Brandon Cooke. Honorary pallbearer will be Tyson Smithhart.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Burke Developmental Disability Services, 2001 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon prior to the services.
