Josephine “Josie” Spivey January 07, 1926 – December 26, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Funeral services for Josephine “Josie” Spivey, 92, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church Lufkin with Reverend Jack Knox officiating. Mrs. Spivey was born January 7, 1926 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Jodie (Treadwell) and Ernest L. Bartlett, Sr., and died Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in a local hospital. Mrs. Spivey was a lifetime resident of Lufkin.

She was a dedicated housewife and devoted mother to her three children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Women’s Medical Auxiliary and various garden clubs. Mrs. Spivey was very active in her church, First Christian Church Lufkin.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Dan Spivey of Lufkin; son, David Spivey of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Mark and Judy Spivey of Plano; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Fred Bemenderfer of Plano; grandchildren and spouses, John and Christine Spivey of Raleigh, North Carolina, Sarah Spivey and Travis Little of Dallas, Brian and Michelle Spivey of Irvine, California, Daniel Bemenderfer of Plano, John and Emily Bemenderfer of Flower Mound, Alan and Melissa Bemenderfer of The Colony; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marie Sinclair; and brother, Ernest L. Bartlett, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Sinclair, Steven Sinclair, Dr. Bart Sinclair, Bill Bartlett, Sally Bartlett Reasor and Ben Bartlett. The family extends special thanks to the nurses and attendants of the Lottie Temple Unit at PineCrest Retirement Community, and to Sherry Kerr for her many years of dedicated services.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church Lufkin, 1300 S. 1st Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the services. Memories and condolences may be added at www.
