Later in life, she received her GED. She married Carl “Curtis” Wilson on May 1, 1949, at the First Presbyterian Church, Winfield. They farmed in the Kellogg community for 25 years.

She also loved to paint, and relatives have many of her paintings including pictures of the family stone barn built in the late 1800s, located near their home. Curtis died age 74, March 11, 1994. Louise occupied her home in Winfield until August 2016 and moved to Winfield Rest Haven.
