Grace Potter April 17, 1923 – March 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Grace Dutrow Potter, age 95, died March 20, 2019 at Presbyterian Manor, Arkansas City, KS. Born April 17, 1923 in Wilson County, Ks to Anderson Rousseau Dutrow and Mabel Herb Dutrow, Grace graduated from Fredonia High School in 1940. Grace married Glen Potter in October of 1941.

They made their home in Winfield during the early 1950’s and moved to a farm north of Winfield in 1958. There they raised five wonderful children and taught them the values of hard work and Christian values. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother whose faith was as strong as she was.

It sustained and enriched her life through her share of trials and tribulation. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four sisters: Ada Ruth Elliott, Irene Barton, Lois Chew and Vera Mae Casper. Left to honor Grace are her five children and their spouses: Larry & Gail Potter, Salina, KS; Claudia & John Burns, Travelers Rest , SC; Mike and Valerie Potter, Kearney, MO; Pat & Dorothy Potter, Winfield, KS and Nancy & Art Davis, Mauldin, SC; seven grandchildren: Cassie & Billy Therrell, Taylors, SC; Evan & Elsie Potter, Lindsborg, KS; Mike & Jenny Burns, Winder, GA; Katharine & Nick Hunter, Lenexa, KS; Matthew Potter and his fiancé, Megan Ingram, Kansas City, MO; Chris & Jocelyn Potter, Memphis, TN; Sarah & Jeremy Houser, Leoti, KS.

Grace had 11 great-grandchildren: Dalton Potter, Owen Potter, Glen Hunter, Hope Potter, Robert Therrell, Callie Therrell Hoopes, Caroline Therrel, Charlotte Therrell, and Duncan Therrell, Andileya Burns and Arabelle Burns. She was a “second mother” to many nieces and nephews through the years who were all faithful to visit her as they were able. She will be dearly missed by her entire family and anyone who knew her.

The funeral service will be Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church, 904 Wheat Road, Winfield. Visitation will be Friday, March 22, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E 9th Ave, Winfield, KS. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Presbyterian Manor, 1711 N. 4th St, Arkansas City, KS, 67005, or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Presbyterian Manor for their Christ like care during Grace’s residency.
